Emergency Services at Toothworks
The dentists at Toothworks Dental Clinics offer appointments and services for a range of dental emergencies.
The following conditions are examples of dental emergencies and should be treated by a dentist as soon as possible.
- Broken or Lost Filling
If you have a broken or lost filling, it's important to get to the dentist to have it repaired right away.
If left untreated, exposed tissue can cause you intense sensitivity or pain, and bacteria in your mouth can cause the tooth to deteriorate further.
- Broken or Chipped Teeth
If a tooth cracks or breaks, it can become quite painful.
Even if there is no pain, it is usually best to get to the dentist as soon as possible to help prevent tooth decay or infection of the inner pulp of the tooth.
- Knocked Out Tooth
If you have a knocked-out tooth, also known as an avulsed tooth, it's likely that you'll need to get to the dentist within 30 minutes to an hour after it is knocked out.
If a knocked-out tooth is put back into place soon enough after it falls out, it may be able to re-attach to the jaw bone.
- Severe Toothache
Tooth pain caused by an injury (like a broken or cracked tooth) or severe oral infection (like a cavity or pulp infection) normally requires emergency care.
The pain may be either dull or sharp, but if it is consistent and severe enough that you are unable to function effectively, get yourself to the dentist.
